Meet Sean Furey!
Sean began his marketing career working for a professional services firm as a Marketing Assistant where he gained a professional diploma in marketing via the CIM as well as a promotion to Marketing Executive.
He then joined the world of marketing within recruitment after taking up a role as Marketing Manager with the FiveTen Group, specifically looking after their legal recruitment brand Laurence Simons.
From the FiveTen Group Sean moved to a competitor, The SR Group as one of their Brand Managers looking after the brands Taylor Root (Legal & Compliance) and Brewer Morris (Tax, Treasury and Senior Finance). He now leads on global projects as well as managing the strategy for marketing activities within the U.K. and USA.
A few weeks ago I sat down with Sean to discuss his career progression and the first instalment of strange requests marketers receive. We also chat about:
🎙️ Approaching marketing as a brand manager, and the nuances of marketing into the legal industry
🎙️ Why it is beneficial not to rush up the corporate ladder
🎙️ In the recruitment industry, only being an academic marketer will not get you all the way
🎙️ Having adaptable campaign planning, and starting with what won’t work first
🎙️ Learning not to say yes to everything and anything, but being honest about what you can deliver
🎙️ What Sales and Marketing need to understand – they are each experts in their area
👍 And new with Sean, he shares the most unusual request he has received as a marketer – something all marketers should be able to empathise with!
